French pipe manufacturer Vallourec has secured a contract to supply approximately 3,000 MT of premium tubular solutions for the first phase of Greece’s Prinos CO2 storage project. The contract was awarded by EnEarth, a subsidiary of Energean, as part of plans to convert a depleted offshore oil reservoir into a permanent carbon dioxide storage facility. Vallourec’s supply will include casing pipes and accessories designed to support safe and long-term CO2 storage operations. The package includes seamless carbon steel and corrosion-resistant alloy casing pipes featuring VAM premium connections. Vallourec will also provide its CLEANWELL dope-free technology, aimed at improving operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact. The Prinos project is targeting CO2 injection capacity of up to 2.8 million MT annually, while its proved and probable storage capacity is estimated at 51.5 million MT. The contract strengthens Vallourec’s presence in the growing carbon capture and storage (CCS) sector and highlights increasing demand for specialized steel tubular products in Europe’s decarbonization projects.
