NEMO Selects Tenova for Louisiana DRI Plant Nippon Steel Returns to Profit in Q1 JFE Steel Produces Iron Using Green Hydrogen
Larsen & Toubro’s Metals and Minerals business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction orders from leading Indian mining and metals companies.The contracts include work on an 18 million tonnes per annum iron ore handling facility in Chhattisgarh for India’s largest iron ore producer. L&T’s responsibilities cover engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of a downhill conveyor, screening plant, stockyard equipment, rapid wagon loading system and supporting facilities. The project forms part of the miner’s plan to increase iron ore production capacity to 100 MTPA by 2030.
L&T has also won Design and Build and Balance of Plant packages for the expansion of a public-sector steel plant in West Bengal. The facility’s capacity is set to rise from 2.5 MTPA to 7.1 MTPA.
Additionally, the engineering major secured an EPC contract from a private metals producer for a zinc processing plant. The scope includes design, procurement, installation, commissioning and related site services.The latest orders strengthen L&T’s presence across India’s mining, ferrous and non-ferrous metals sectors while supporting major capacity-expansion and infrastructure-development projects.
